The Story of These People is a Wake Up Call | The Muslim Blog

This is a story you may know. It has been evident across multiple religions, and in the Qur'an you can find it in Surah #18, or Surat al-Kahf. This story, if told correctly, is a huge wake up call for us. It can make the truth clear to you, and help guide you in your life.

There are many details but generally it is about a group of boys who refused to leave their faith even in the face of persecution, escaping from jail (and from their homes) in order to be able to keep their faith, eventually hiding in a cave. They made huge sacrifices and in the end it was clear how much Allah () was proud of them. They were not marked as extremists, or looked down upon, but viewed as heroes.

But things have changed so much, and you probably know it. In this In this time and age, sometimes it feels like in order to "fit in" you need to let go of your religious identity, or put it at second priority. Not be willing to compromise your beliefs can be viewed as backward or looked down upon. There are many people who are aware of this. Perhaps you know very well what I am talking about. That person who was bullied for going to the mosque, or the people who were subjected to hate crimes. The woman who was called oppressed because she wore a hijab and the girl who was labeled "ISIS" just because she was a Muslim.

This is a disease.

These men are role models. They went through trouble for Allah (), and were rewarded for it. If you go through trouble for Allah, your effort has not gone in vain. These men are heroes, not people to be looked down upon. A life spent in obeying Allah is a beautiful thing, not a shame. It is morality and justice and mercy and compassion and values, as the Creator of this Earth has sent to us via the Qur'an.
