Evidence Islam is True





There are many different arguments that can be used to support the fact that the Qur'an was a book from God (not a fabrication) and Muhammad (PBUH) was a messenger of God. These include:
  • The Qur'an's literary excellence, and the fact that the Arabs at the time of the Qur'an's revelation were unable to succeed in the challenge that Muhammad (PBUH) presented them with - to bring something like [a chapter of] the Qur'an. This is discussed in the talk below called, "The Eternal Miracle" and also in the book The Divine Reality by Hamza Tzortzis. See this article for an elaboration on this powerful argument.
  • Muhammad's life (PBUH) and his actions are evidence to support his sincerity in his belief that he was a messenger of God.
  • Other factors of the Qur'an, including its powerful structure. The video about ring composition below offers an example of the Qur'an's internal design. The Qur'an also is historically accurate even when dealing with historical knowledge that Muhammad (PBUH) would have had no way to know (for example, when dealing with the title of the ruler of Ancient Egypt in Moses' and Joseph's time).

 Video that speaks about Islam and the Qur'an's claim to Divine authorship with regards to logical arguments, historical information in the Qur'an and the structure of the Qur'an.

Some key points raised

  • The validity of the isnad system used in preserving the hadith and Quran
  • The Qur'an was revealed over 23 years in a piecemeal (piece-by-piece) process in response to times and events, yet it somehow demonstrates structural and mathematical coherence
    • For example, the longest chapter of the Qur'an is 286 verses, and in verse 143 (the middle) there is the word "middle"
    • The Qur'an says that Jesus is like Adam (peace be upon them) in chapter 3 verse 59; they are both mentioned a total of 25 times in the entire Qur'an
    • And many other instances of powerful structure and design are present
    • Muhammad (PBUH) did not have a computer or calculator to attempt to organize the Quran in a mathematically coherent way
    • The countless instances of mathematical and structural coherence are best explained by the fact that the Qur'an was designed and revealed by God
  • The Qur'an is accurate regarding lost/inaccessible historical information
    • When talking about the story of Moses, the Qur'an uses the word "pharaoh" for the Egyptian ruler but when talking about Joseph, the Qur'an uses the word "king" instead
    • Recent knowledge of hieroglyphs revealed that in the New Kingdom in Ancient Egypt, the time of Moses, the word "pharaoh" was used for the ruler of Egypt. 
    • However, in the Old Middle Kingdom, the time of Joseph, the word "king" was used
    • Hieroglyphs were not understood until recently due to the advent of Egyptology and Muhammad (PBUH) could not have accessed knowledge from them
    • If Muhammad (PBUH) or any other human was writing the Qur'an, how would they know to use the word "king" instead of "pharaoh" when talking about the Egyptian ruler in the time of Joseph?
    • The knowledge in the Qur'an that would have been inaccessible to humans is explainable if we consider the Qur'an to be God's word
  • Also considering the multi-layered meanings in the Qur'an that are understood of people of different times and places
  • As well as other characteristics from the Qur'an, that when added to the life of Muhammad (PBUH), form a powerful argument to support the claim that the Qur'an is God's word
This book contains arguments to support the existence of God in general, as well as arguments to support the Qur'an's divine origin and Muhammad (PBUH) as a messenger of God. It is highly recommended for anyone who would like to explore this area in more depth and a highly beneficial book.

 Remarkable Ring Composition in the Qur'an
This video demonstrates the ring composition of the Qur'an using an example from chapter 2 of the Qur'an.

Some key points
  • Chapter 2 of the Qur'an demonstrates an exceptional ring structure, where the first theme is similar to the last theme, the second theme is similar to the second last theme, and so on
  • The Qur'an was not composed at a single time, but was revealed over 23 years, bit-by-bit and often in response to times/events
  • Given the way it was revealed and compiled, it seems very highly unlikely that this structure is attributable to human design
  • A logical explanation is that the Qur'an came from God - hence its powerful structure despite the difficult circumstances

 According to Hamza Tzortzis,
"Since there are good arguments to justify the Qur’an’s claim of being God’s word, then if the Qur’an conflicts with limited human knowledge it should not create massive confusion. Remember, God has the picture, we have just a pixel. Until the 1950s, all physicists, including Einstein, believed that the universe was eternal; all the data supported this, and this belief conflicted with the Qur’an. Yet the Qur’an explicitly states that the universe had a beginning. New observations using powerful advanced telescopes made physicists drop the ‘steady state’ model (eternal universe) and replace that with the Big Bang Model (universe with a beginning, possibly about 13.7 billion years ago). So, science came into line with the Qur’an." - source
