Are You Falling for This Trap? | The Muslim Blog

This is a pit many Muslims fall into. Even worse, you may have fallen into it before. What is it? Here is a brief story to explain:

Once upon a time, there was a rich man who offered money and aid to a bunch of poor, helpless people. He did this and asked them to listen to him alone, and not obey the words of an immoral man who lived in the same area (the immoral man only wanted to hurt these people in the end). But surprisingly, the poor people took the aid from the rich person then disobeyed him and obeyed the immoral man, who did nothing to their benefit in the end.

The rich man is Allah.
The poor people are humans (us).
The immoral man is the devil.
So the pattern is clear:
Allah helps people and tells people not to obey the devil.
People disobey Allah and obey the devil anyway.
The devil harms people because they obey him.
That is the trap. Many people fall into it all the time:

They fall into it with their money, when Allah gives them money and they spend it on haram (forbidden) things.

They fall into it in their relationships and lifestyle, when Allah gives them chances in life but whenever it gets tempting to follow the devil, they turn their backs on Allah.

In leisure, work and many other areas of life, we fall into this trap by disobeying Allah and obeying the devil, by doing forbidden things, even though in the end Allah helps us and not the devil.

So, how do we escape this trap?

It may be difficult to stop this all at once, but there are steps to take. Firstly, repent sincerely from all your past sins and vow to live a better life. Vow that you’ll find a way to avoid haram.

Then start to introduce these changes in your lifestyle, most importantly of repenting continuously after doing anything haram and vowing not to do it again. Try to make it easy for yourself to lead a good lifestyle. Maybe not everything will get fixed immediately, but you need to start engaging in the struggle. When you fall, repent and get back up. Put in a bigger effort to make sure that you avoid haram actions.

Like this, you may have already achieved victory, even if you don't realize it.
