Mind Blowing Aspects of the Qur'an | The Muslim Blog

There are many interesting aspects of the Qur'an. Here is a compilation of some interesting aspects of the Qur'an that you may have not known about.

#1: Word Counts

In the Qur'an, counting the number of times a specific word occurs can yield interesting results, as you can see in the above video.

However, be aware that in Arabic prefixes, suffixes and different forms of words can cause errors if you try to verify the counts yourself. For example, if you search the word "devil" you may not get 88 because of the English translations having extra instances, or because certain forms of the word were ignored.

#2: Numerical Code in Chapter and Verse Numbers

There is a stunning "code" in the Qur'an's chapter and verse numbers. It is as follows:

"The Glorious Quran has 114 Chapters. The sum of those Chapters is 6555 (1+2+...+114 = 6555). There are also 6236 Noble Verses in the Glorious Quran. Now, IF YOU ADD EACH CHAPTER # with the number of its Verses, then you get a list of numbers. So 1 (first Chapter) + 7 (# of its Verses) = 8. Do this for all Chapters.
1-  The sum of the odd numbers from the list = 6555.
2-  The sum of the even numbers from the list = 6236."

This is a very interesting aspect of the Qur'an's chapter numbers. To break it down:

  1. The Qur'an has 6236 verses [1]
  2. The Qur'an has 114 chapters. If you add all the numbers leading to 114 (1 +2 + 3+ 4....114) it adds to 6555
  3. So now we have two significant numbers: 6555 and 6236
  4. Every chapter of the Qur'an has a number which dictates its order in the Qur'an
  5. Every chapter of the Qur'an has a certain number of verses
  6. If you take every chapter and add its number of verses to its chapter number (ordering), then you will get a list of numbers - one number for each chapter
  7. Add the odd numbers in this list together and the even numbers together
  8. You end up with one number from the sum of the odd numbers and one number from the sum of the even numbers
  9. One of those numbers is 6555 and the other is 6326

#3: Number 19

See this document by Shabir Ally for more information about the significance of number 19 in the Qur'an.

Here is a quote from the document:

"I turn now to Chapter 96. There are 19 verses in this chapter, and the chapter is the 19th from the end of the Quran. Some traditions say that the first five verses of this chapter was the first part of the Quran to be revealed to the prophet (pbuh) as he meditated in the cave. Those five verses contain 19 words. The words are made up of 19x4 letters, i.e. 76 letters. The entire chapter contains 19x15, i.e., 285 letters."

Historical accuracy and linguistic excellence are also interesting and highly significant aspects of the Qur'an.
